ABOUT THE AUTHOR

With over 40 years of law enforcement experience, J.C. De Ladurantey combines street-savvy and police department intrigue based upon true stories from a varied career. His previous book, Cowards, Crooks, and Warriors, was a fast-paced police procedural crime mystery that received 5 Star ratings.

J.C. De Ladurantey is a retired Chief of Police for the City of Irwindale California. He has also served as the Chief of Police of Torrance, California, as the law enforcement liaison for the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office and 27 years with the Los Angeles Police Department. With over 40 years in law enforcement, he brings a broad range of street experience from patrol, vice, detective work, and internal affairs, to scientific investigation in urban, suburban and industrial environments.

 He moved to the private sector as senior vice-president of Willdan Homeland Solutions, specializing in emergency management training as well as consulting with state and local agencies and the private sector. For over twenty years he served as Adjunct Professor of public administration in the Graduate School of Public Administration at Cal State, Northridge. He is currently a professor of criminal justice at the National University. He holds a doctorate degree in Public Administration and Public Policy from the University of La Verne, a master’s degree in Public Administration from the University of Southern California and a bachelor’s degree in Criminology from Cal State Long Beach.

He and his wife Sandra enjoy a Brady Bunch family of seven children, with sixteen grandchildren and a great grandchild and counting. His hobbies include the music and artists of the 1950s and early 60s with emphasis on Doo Wop music, having written a book Making Your Memories with Rock & Roll and Doo Wop; The music and artists of the 1950s and early 60s, He also worked as a radio disc jockey for over nine years sharing the love of the music with his audience.

His community contributions include Founding President of the Harbor City/Gateway Boys and Girls Club, President of the Roosters Foundation devoted to children’s charities and member of the Board of Trustees for Devil Pups Inc. a youth development program in cooperation with the United States Marine Corps.

As the author of textbooks in the criminal justice field and an international lecturer on the many facets of criminology, he brings his most unique experiential and academic perspective to his writings. His initially acclaimed work, COWARDS, CROOKS, AND WARRIORS, was followed by TWENTY-THREE MINUTES and the soon to be released AVAILABLE TIME. This trilogy follows Officer Howard Hamilton and chronicles the fascinating nitty gritty true reality of modern police work without getting dragged into the abyss of brutality, racism, and the atrocities of the use of force. Police work is not always pretty, but his characters embody and bring to life the practical and balanced view of the challenges and excitement faced by today’s law enforcement professionals in the eternal and sometimes confusing war of good vs evil.
